Welcome to the Rodeo & Recreational Education & Activities Club (REAC)! We're excited you're interested in joining us.Our club is a great place to experience the Western lifestyle and build community, NO rodeo experience is required. We're a welcoming group that wants to share a variety of fun activities with everyone.While we embrace the Western lifestyle, we are not a professional rodeo team. We won't be participating in high-risk rodeo events like bull or bronc riding. Instead, we'll attend local rodeos as spectators.We bring people together through a variety of hands-on activities. Our club meetings feature fun events like Jeopardy, movie nights, cornhole tournaments, bowling, billiards, hiking, learning to 2-step, square dance, line dancing etc. One of our most popular hands-on activities is learning to rope, and we'd be happy to teach you how to use a roping dummy at one of our meetings or club day. Understanding a major point of focus is that of CSU Bakersfield Athletics, Runner Nation really strives to be the group that celebrates all Roadrunner events. The primary function of the Agriculture and Natural Resource Club formally known as the Agricultural Business Club is to offer resources for students engaged in academia and community involvement. Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society. The AV Robotics Club provides students with an opportunity to explore, design, and build robots in a collaborative, hands-on learning environment. The Basic Needs Department strives to support student success by addressing fundamental needs including those related to food security, housing stability, and emergency and/or crisis services. The Economics Student Association intends to gather those interested in Business and Economics to share information about classes, instructors, books, and also to foster an environment where long-lasting friendships can be built with like-minded individuals that would benefit our career growth. Edible GardenWe grow free food for students, staff, and faculty! Our team uses organic practices and water-saving irrigation methods. We also create our own compost on-site. Donations in the form of tools, seeds, or native trees are always appreciated!

The purpose of this organization is to: promote continual collaboration and cooperation between ECA members; provide channels of communication and useful contacts among students, faculty, and staff associated with the Educational Counseling Master’s program through regular meetings and social activities; create and promote extracurricular professional development activities for students in the program; promote and sponsor graduate student participation at a local, state, regional, and national conferences; foster professional responsibility and accountability among students in the program; recruit and promote professional and personal resources for students in the program; serve as advocates for graduate students in the program and any additional organization members.

The Ethnic Studies discipline emphasizes the social and historical study of race and racism in the United States, and it is defined by its attention to the systemic power relations that arise from institutional, cultural, and societal, contextually imposed or chosen meanings and interpretations of “race.” While the focus is on the experiences of racialized peoples in the United States, the department also understands that race and racism are not unique or exclusive to the United States and can be juxtaposed with academic parallels made beyond the borders of the United States.The department faculty are committed to intellectually rigorous teaching, scholarly activity that is programmatic and consequential to the field, and inclusive and supportive activism and service. The Social Work Club at CSUB-AV is a student-lead organization designed to provide students with opportunities to affiliate with other social work students and professional social workers, with the goal of helping MSW students build an identity within the social work profession. At the heart of the Student Union is a casual lounge, which gives students a fun, relaxed setting to unwind between classes or after a long day. Computers are available for surfing the web, in addition to couched and low tables for studying, casual reading, playing games or conversing with friends.The Student Union is also home to “Rowdy's Place,” a cafe featuring food from Panda Express, and forms of entertainment like billiards, ping-pong, and multiple television monitors. Visit the Roadrunner Bookstore for textbooks and campus branded items, or have a latte in our Starbucks.The Student Union houses offices for various groups, including Associated Students, Inc. The Department of University Outreach Services coordinates the University's ongoing outreach and recruitment events. University Outreach directs most of its activities towards high schools and community colleges to increase enrollment and access to higher education. The primary focus of the department is to assist prospective students with the preadmission procedures necessary to attend CSUB. Secondary focuses include the coordination of presentations and supporting the Transfer Success Pathways (TSP) program, and assisting with campus orientations. The Department of University Outreach Services improves access to higher education for students who are from educationally and/or economically disadvantaged families.

About the Walter W. Stiern LibraryThe Walter W. Stiern Library opened in 1994 and is the largest building on the California State University, Bakersfield campus. The 150,000 square-foot building houses nearly half a million volumes and provides electronic access to thousands of periodical titles and over a million ebooks over 200 databases. The Library is managed and operated by 29 staff members and faculty librarians. The Library also maintains a branch library at the CSUB Antelope Valley campus in Lancaster. The Dean of Libraries oversees all operations and services.
