Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS)

Cultural & Identity

From the Union directory, Sep 7, 2026

The Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) was founded by the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), the nation’s oldest and largest independent, student-run organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color. The primary objective of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students is to represent previously underrepresented minority medical students and to establish a widespread support network for these students through community service and a steadfast dedication to eliminating ethnic health disparities in all aspects of medicine and patient care. We, the Union College Chapter of the Minority Association of Pre-medical Students, would like to aid in this mission by extending the benefits of a national support and networking group to the medical community at large. The members of the Union College Chapter of SNMA/MAPS are united by a common goal: to promote diversity in medicine and to increase the number of underrepresented physicians in the medical field by specifically targeting pre-medical students at the college and university levels. In order to accomplish these goals, the Union College Chapter of SNMA/ MAPS is dedicated to providing pre-medical students with opportunities to gain experience in a wide variety of medical fields, including medical school application seminars, community service projects, mock interview sessions lead by medical students, and tours of medical and academic facilities.
