Introducing UNCG DOC: A New Student Initiative for Dental CareWe are excited to announce our student-led organization at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro-UNCG DOC, also known as the Dental Organization Clinic. Established in the spring semester of 2024. Our goal is to create meaningful partnerships that help expand access to dental care for underserved individuals in our area while offering valuable surface-level experiences for our student members as they pursue careers in dentistry.Over the past few semesters, we have successfully organized several fundraising events, with additional support from donations provided by local dentists. These efforts have enabled us to sponsor dental services for those in need. Our members have had many opportunities to volunteer and shadow dentists in the area. Our organization has created a patient form that allows individuals to be contacted about free dental care appointments, at no cost to our community, using the funds we have collected. Our fundraising efforts are ongoing, and we remain committed to expanding these initiatives to further benefit our community.Our MissionUNCG DOC is more than a student organization; it is a movement dedicated to bringing smiles to our community. Through creative fundraising and outreach, we aim to provide free dental care to those who need it most. We are committed to raising awareness, building partnerships, and fostering change in Greensboro by leveraging the skills, passion, and dedication of future dental professionals.UNCG DOC’s key objectives:Serving the Community: We aim to support the community and help individuals access dental care by covering the costs of dental procedures and raising awareness of the importance of oral health.Providing Student Experience: To help our members gain hands-on experience through volunteer hours, exposure to the dental field, and opportunities that enhance their dental school applications.Making a Difference: We are dedicated to positively impacting our community by addressing the unmet need for dental care and engaging in outreach and education.Every member of UNCG DOC is dedicated to making a difference.
