Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Three distinguished black students at Howard University saw the need for a different kind of fraternity on their campus in 1913. With nine others, A. Langston Taylor, Charles I. Brown, and Leonard F. Morse founded Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on January 9, 1914. As of this day, two of the elements that make this fraternity different from many others are its emphasis on the inclusion rather than the exclusion of all types of men for membership, and its emphasis on maintaining ones individuality within a strong fraternal structure. The Rho Beta chapter serves through brotherhood, scholarship, and service for the general welfare of all humanity.
