Professional Organizations

From the Samford directory, Sep 7, 2026

Music Teachers National Association is the preeminent source for music teacher support, where members embody like-minded values and commitment to their students, colleagues, and society as a whole, while reaping the rewards of collaboration, continuity and connection throughout the lifetime of their careers. The mission of MTNA is to advance the value of music study and music making to society and to support the professionalism of music teachers. The Samford University MTNA Collegiate Chapter was formed to enhance students’ classroom studies by providing educational, musical, social, and professional enrichment. The goal of our chapter is to acquaint students with professional opportunities and career options in the music field while developing professional leadership skills. One of the projects for our chapter is to continue with an annual state-wide Symposium for young collegiate professionals. This chapter intends to be a community support for new and upcoming teachers and performers. The chapter also wishes to support our members in their research areas with a goal of attending and/or presenting at local, state, or national conferences. The chapter will hold biweekly meetings, which may be planning sessions or sessions involving guest speakers.
