Dobro Slovo recognizes academic excellence in the study of Slavic languages, cultures, and literatures. Samford's chapter was chartered March 24, 2005. The Samford University Faculty Committee on Student Affairs, Religious Life, and University Relations, along with the Board of Trustees, approved the recognition of the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Dobro Slovo October 23, 2007. Our chapter holds initiations in the spring. There are 3 classes of membership: student, faculty and honorary. Members may be chosen from both undergraduate and graduate students and from the faculty of the local institution.Qualifications for student membership are:1. The student must have completed two years (or equivalent) of study of Slavic languages, literature, culture, or related subjects with a minimum average grade of 85% (B) or its letter or point equivalent.2. The minimum overall academic average should be 80% (B) or its letter or point equivalent3. The student must indicate an active and continuing interest in Slavic languages, literature, culture or related fields of Slavic studies.
