The mission of the Academic Success Center is to facilitate students’ successful transition through Samford University by identifying and providing academic resources in a highly collaborative and student-centered manner.The director works closely with faculty, the admissions office, Career Development, and the counseling offices to provide academic assistance as needed. First-year, First-Gen, international, and transfer students are particularly encouraged to take advantage of the center’s services to facilitate their transition to Samford University. The center is located in Dwight Beeson Hall Suite 203.The center hosts study hall each afternoon during the semester in Dwight Beeson Hall room 204 and provides workshops and tabling events to students. We are here to help students achieve academic success by building their skills in time management, study skills, note-taking skills, test-taking skills, and organization. The center also connects students to general and course-based tutoring opportunities.The center also has a full-time pre-health advisor, and special support for students for whom English is not their first language.This organization is open to all students irrespective of race, ethnicity, or other legally protected characteristics.
