Nature-Based Mindfulness and Contemplative Practices come from various spiritual and cultural lineages, but are foundationally about restoring a sense of connection to the living world that we are a part of. Contemplative Nature Engagement practices include meditation in nature, sensory immersion, forest bathing, movement through landscapes, awe walks, and deep listening. These practices often lead to more adaptive responses to ecological change and disruption, including understanding and working with challenging emotions (such as eco-grief and eco-anxiety), acting for the benefit of all beings, and transforming/expanding our sense of community and kinship with the earth. You can expect an increased sense of restoration and reduced stress through grounding in the immediate sense of place, an increased sense of interconnectedness and kinship with the world around you, and a safe, supportive environment to explore and reflect on our values and commitments to understanding ourselves as fundamentally part of, rather than isolated from, nature.
