CourseTrees connects courses and prerequisites so students can see their options before an advising conversation. We're inviting teams to test that approach with one program, a reviewed set of sources and a small group of participants.

Courses, prerequisites and program requirements often live on separate pages. CourseTrees brings the information we have into a connected view, with links back to its sources. We're building a maintained curriculum data layer that students and advisors can use to understand the same path, from an introductory course to a program's requirements.
Coverage varies by university. CourseTrees is a planning aid, not an official degree audit and not a university systems integration: use it to prepare for advising alongside your institution's own audit and catalog. Any integration would need a separately agreed scope. Final decisions stay with your institution.
Where a map can help

- Show students what comes before your course and where it can lead. Walk through a department map in class or share a course link alongside your syllabus.
- Advising teams
- Use a sample plan to make the conversation concrete: which prerequisites need checking, what choices remain, and what needs an advisor’s decision.
- Academic departments
- Review how one program’s course pathways appear to students. Compare the map with official requirements, identify confusing links, and keep a correction log.

A proposed pilot, scoped together and supported directly by the founders.
Agree the question. Choose a department, program and catalog year, then identify the planning question students find difficult.
Review a working example. Start from official public sources and a clearly labeled sample plan. Run a curriculum walkthrough with students and staff, without a roster or student-record upload.
Measure what helped. Check answers against the agreed sources, record confusing steps and corrections, and ask participants whether the map improved their preparation.
