Service & Advocacy

From the Marquette directory, Sep 7, 2026

Women and Youth Supporting Each Other (WYSE) is dedicated to strengthening the lives and communities of women and girls through a curriculum-based, group and one-on-one mentorship program that strives to address all the issues that can contribute to their disempowerment. Since our founding in 1992, WYSE has given thousands of young women the resources and support necessary to navigate important life decisions and confidently determine their futures. WYSE is committed to inclusivity and belonging for all women: trans women, cis women, femmes, female-identifying, and individuals assigned female at birth. We envision a world in which we are all empowered to determine our futures and effect change. Some of our sessions include:Race, Racism & DiscriminationPersonal Identity Gender StereotypesBody Image/Eating DisordersViolence Against WomenDrugs and AlcoholFuture OptionsA female college student is paired up with a 6th-8th grader from a Milwaukee Public Middle School. We hold weekly sessions where we strengthen our mentor/mentee relationships. It is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to the community and make an impact in a young girl’s life.
