In addition, we have two other philanthropies: Inherit the Earth and Maine Sea Coast Mission. We, also, partake in campus sponsored service events such as Day of Service and food/clothing drives. Sigma Kappa was recognized by the Greek community to be the chapter with the Most Outstanding Philanthropy in the 2009-2010 year.Scholarship: The goals of our Scholastic program include the encouragement of positive attitudes toward studying, bolstering confidence through academic achievement, and motivating our sisters to keep their grades up and do their best. As a testament to our passion for academics, our Kappa Nu chapter received an Academic Achievement Award for the 2010 year for which Sigma Kappa National headquarters "recognizes those chapters who have a record of high academic achievement, including obtaining a GPA of 3.0 or above for all members.” We have the highest GPA on campus across all sorority, all female, and all organizations.Sisterhood: Sigma Kappa takes special pride in its uniquely strong sisterhood both within the Marquette chapter and nationally. We strive to foster our own sisters’ growth and development by offering support whenever they need it. We also elect a specific board position, which solely focuses on the sisterhood aspect of our chapter and takes time to plan sisterhood events, which all members look forward to. These events include annual trips to Apple Holler, Sisterhood Retreats, holiday socials and much more.
