The Wind Ensemble is a band which performs high-level wind band repertoire. It is designed for those students who are seeking a high-level music-making experience. The Wind Ensemble rehearses from 3:30pm-4:50pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and performs two concerts per semester on campus. Auditions take place the weekend before the first week of classes, and students will audition for placement with the Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble at the same time. All students are welcome in the MU bands program, but placement within the Wind Ensemble is competitive.The Symphonic Band is a group designed for students who wish to continue to make music at the collegiate level in a relaxed setting. The group rehearses from 5:00-6:20 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and performs two concerts during the Fall semester and one major concert during the Spring semester. All students are welcome in the Symphonic Band!The jazz ensembles are a flexible group in terms of size and instrumentation. The jazz groups are open to all students at Marquette, and we have two bands. Rehearsals are once a week on Tuesday, either from 5:00pm-6:30pm or from 7:00pm-8:30pm. The jazz bands perform one major concert per semester.The MU Pep Band is open only to members of the Marquette Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. The Pep Band performs for all men’s and women’s home basketball games, in addition to special events such as Midnight Madness, Lovell Legacy Run, and the Big East and NCAA basketball tournaments.
