Reflection and Dialogue Series: How to Know a Person

The Office of the Vice President for Human Resources (OVPHR) invites all faculty and staff to join us for an engaging Reflection and Dialogue Series session, centered on David Brooks’ illuminating book, How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen. Together, we will reflect and discuss how the art of deep, intentional connection serves as a foundational skill for building trust and empathy. These qualities not only enhance our everyday collaborations but are also inseparable from our collective well-being, community care, in alignment with our Jesuit Catholic mission. Grounded in Brooks’ practical wisdom, participants will gain actionable tools and learn communication strategies to foster supportive conversations, practice active listening, and make others feel truly valued and understood. By mastering the ability to see others more deeply, we can advance and sustain more meaningful workplace connections that enrich our daily interactions and strengthen the collaborative fabric of our Boston College campus community. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 12:00-1:30 pm, in Yawkey Ctr 426 Murray Function Rm. Please note that this is an in-person event, with lunch provided.
