Black Power in NC: Two Films & a Discussion

Join Wake Forest's Office of Civic & Community Engagement and Winston-Salem State University for an evening exploring radical local and state history through two documentaries fresh off their premieres at the RiverRun International Film Festival: Power to the People, Y'all, an intimate portrait of five founding members of Winston-Salem's Black Panther Party chapter, reflecting on the movement's legacy and the women who sustained it. Free Joan Little, the story of the landmark 1975 trial that became a rallying point for civil rights, women's rights, and prison reform nationwide. Filmmakers Tressie McMillan Cottom and Yoruba Richen will join Larry Little, former leader of the Winston-Salem Black Panther Party, for a moderated discussion on the power of community organizing.
