Engagement@OSU Webinar ~ Learning to follow: Collaborating with Tribes on dam removal science in the Klamath Basin

Event Announcement Summary Join OSU Extension and Engagement as we welcome Desiree Tullos for a presentation on the historic Klamath River dam removals, the world's largest river restoration project, completed in 2024 through the leadership of basin Tribes. She will provide an overview of the project and share lessons learned from OSU's collaboration with Tribal partners, highlighting the importance of reciprocity, trust-building, intellectual property, and adaptive approaches in conducting science that supports meaningful restoration outcomes. Desiree Tullos is a professor in the Biological and Ecological Engineering Department at Oregon State University. Her research emphasizes the sustainable engineering and management of rivers by examining the intersections of hydraulics, infrastructure, ecology, and society. Her research program heavily emphasizes engaging and mentoring undergraduate students in research with societal relevance. She also serves on multiple boards and science and engineering advisory panels to help translate science into practice and policy. Register here to join the webinar!
