Statistical methods to analyze genomic data are covered, including probability models, basic stochastic processes, and statistical modeling. Biological topics include DNA sequence analysis, phylogenetic inference, gene finding, and molecular evolution. A weekly 1-hour lab on computational aspects of the course will cover software and practice of bioinformatics and computational biology, including modern data sets.
