( BIOE 342 or BIOC 320 or BIOS 320 ) and ( BIOE 440 or STAT 440 ) Description: Students design and conduct a series of tests to synthesize PLLA, characterize PLLA and PLGA, monitor PLLA and PLGA degradation, and assess the viability, attachment, and proliferation of HDF cells on PLLA films. The experiments include many of the basic types of experiments that would be required to do a preliminary investigation of a tissue engineered product. Sections 1 and 2 will be taught during the first half of the semester and sections 3 and 4 will be taught during the second half of the semester. In addition sections 1 and 3 will need to come into lab on 2-3 Fridays and sections 2 and 4 will need to come into lab on 2-3 Saturdays.
