GEOL 1000 or GEOL 2010Exploration of the formation, evolution, and characterization of planets and the geologic processes that shape them. Students will learn about connections between planetary interiors (core, mantle, crust) and exteriors (atmosphere, hydrosphere), and what shapes the surfaces of planets over time. There will be a focus on the inner Solar System (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars), with discussion of the outer Solar System (gas giants, Kuiper belt, etc.) to supplement.
