SPH PH720 or instructor permission. This course provides an investigation into mental health and mental illness from a public health perspective. The courses examines the social determinants of mental health, and evaluates the ways in which key public health strategies (i.e., surveillance, screening, prevention, wellness promotion, community and policy advocacy) address mental health in various communities. Students develop an understanding of the challenges facing the current system of services and the role public health must play going forward.
