The Newbury Center will be hosting an Academic Year Kickoff and celebrating Alumni Weekend! Join your fellow first-gen students, staff, faculty, and alumni for an evening of community and connection. During the event we'll host an open house where Maria Dykema Erb, inaugural executive director, and Dr. Anthony Abraham Jack, faculty director, will speak about the Newbury Center's vision for this year and the future. During this year's kickoff, there will also be delicious food, arts and crafts, games, and lots of Newbury Center swag. Dinner will be served, so please register in advance. What does it mean to be first-generation at Boston University? First-Generation College Student (FGCS): A student in the first generation of their family to go to college (i.e., a student whose parents/guardians/caregivers did not earn bachelor’s degrees, although elder siblings and cousins may be attending college already or have earned four-year degrees). First-Generation Graduate/Professional Student (FGGS/FGPS): A student who is in the first-generation of their families to pursue an advanced degree (i.e., a student whose parents/guardians/caregivers did not earn a master’s, doctorate, or professional degree, such as a JD or MD). --- Event Details: https://terriercentral.bu.edu/rsvp?id=375491
